World Without Orphans celebrates strong collaboration in Nairobi as leaders from across Kenya gathered for a significant step in strengthening child protection.
WWO Regional Ambassador Anne Kasombo and LevHaAv International represented WWO at the event, highlighting the growing role of WWO Kenya in strengthening families and advancing care reform across the country. LevHaAv focuses on child protection and family-based care, equipping churches and communities so more children can grow up in safe and loving families.
To support leaders and churches across Kenya, you can explore the WWO Roadmap Summary in Swahili, a practical guide for strengthening families and promoting family-based care.
The summit brought together faith leaders, government officials, civil society, and development partners to reaffirm their shared responsibility to safeguard children as guided by the Kenyan Constitution, the Children Act (2022), and core faith values. The Ag. Chief Kadhi highlighted the essential role of faith leaders in confronting harmful practices and mobilizing communities to protect children.
Cabinet Secretary Hon. Hanna Wendot Cheptumo reminded participants that child protection is a national and constitutional mandate requiring united action from government, faith institutions, families, and communities. IRCK Executive Director Linus Nthigai reaffirmed the commitment to ensuring places of worship remain safe spaces for children.
The summit concluded with the endorsement of the National Religious Leaders’ Declaration on Child Safeguarding and the launch of the “Protecting and Safeguarding Our Children – Faith for Life” handbooks. These steps strengthen faith-based leadership and cross-sector collaboration for child protection in Kenya.
For WWO and the East Africa regional learning community, this gathering reflects the heart of our shared vision: every child growing up in a safe and loving family and community, knowing their Heavenly Father, and reaching their God-given potential. We are grateful for Anne Kasombo, LevHaAv International, and all partners working to protect children, strengthen families, and ensure every child is valued and able to thrive.
