It takes a village, or a Chilean community in this case, to help raise healthy children and to see them live in a safe and loving family. A team of seven organizations and one government member have formed a learning community in Chile and are working together to advance care for children and to strengthen families.
As a result, they recently united to host a powerful roundtable with WWO Regional Ambassadors, Maria de la Paz Zabala from Argentina, Karina Nunez from Costa Rica, and Alex Ilie from Romania. Twenty-five leaders from government, Christian organizations, and businesses came together to collaborate on child and family care. The National Director of the Child and Adolescent Protection Service shared information about the new adoption law and vision for building a culture of care, where every child and teenager can grow up in a loving and safe, family-based environment.
In addition to bringing leaders together to find better ways to help children and adolescents, they held a three-day trauma training led by Ruby Johnston, LAMb International and WWO Executive Team Member. Ruby and the trauma training team from Latin America shared years of experience working with vulnerable children. Over 50 participants were given practical tools to build stronger bonds with children and adolescents impacted by trauma.
