Hong Kong and Macau: New Connections for Children and Families

Posted on: 2026-06-28

In May 2026, members of the World Without Orphans Global Team spent a week in Hong Kong and Macau, meeting with local leaders, pastors, ministries, and YWAM partners to listen, pray, and explore what it could look like to grow a Hong Kong and Macau Without Orphans movement. The shared vision was simple and clear: every child cared for in a safe, loving family and community.

The week opened meaningful conversations in both cities. In Hong Kong, church and ministry leaders began gathering around a shared vision for children and families, with interest growing among leaders from local churches, foster care, refugee ministry, and YWAM. In Macau, pastors and leaders met for the first time to hear the WWO vision and talk together about the needs of children and families in their city. These meetings created space for new relationships and practical next steps.

A key part of the visit was time spent with Faby Ruesga, WWO Regional Ambassador for East Asia, whose leadership helped create space for connection, encouragement, and next steps across the region. The team also spent time with YWAM Hong Kong – Tuen Mun, sharing the WWO vision and exploring how churches and ministries can respond together to support children and strengthen families.

The week connected Hong Kong and Macau with the wider East Asia region. With support from leaders like Shamindra Fernando from Sri Lanka, the conversations pointed toward a more connected regional path where leaders can keep learning, praying, and moving forward together.

What comes next

Follow-up conversations are already continuing, and there is hope for new WWO expressions to grow in Hong Kong, Macau, and across East Asia. The foundations are being laid through relationships, shared vision, and a growing desire to work together so more children can grow up in safe, loving families.
