With the goal to encourage and equip local Christians to begin a movement that will support vulnerable children across the nation, a World Without Orphans team spent a week in Armenia in September 2025.
Alina Druta (Moldova Without Orphans) and WWO Europe team members Barbara and Richard devoted the first day to training, vision casting, and sharing personal testimonies about adoption and fostering. Alina’s powerful story from Moldova—a country with a history and challenges similar to Armenia’s—deeply moved everyone present. It reminded participants that transformation begins when ordinary people say “yes” to God’s call to care for the fatherless.
The second day brought a spirit of unity and hope. Around 15 participants from churches and NGOs joined a roundtable discussion about forming a national ”Without Orphans” team. Among them were pastors who have long served children in need, and two Sisters of Mercy, who care for severely disabled children—often those placed in orphanages and forgotten by society. Despite the weight of their work, their peace and joy were evident to all who met them.
One moment that deeply touched the group was when a refugee from a neighbouring country shared his story through tears. He regularly volunteers at the Sisters’ home, offering practical help and repairs. His compassion and humility were a living testimony of love in action.
As this new team forms in Armenia, they are united in prayer, listening for God’s direction on how best to serve children—including those with disabilities—across their country. There is a growing sense that something significant is beginning: a network of believers committed to ensuring that every child in Armenia can experience the love and belonging of a family.
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.” — James 1:27
Please join us in praying for Armenia—that God would strengthen these leaders, open doors for collaboration, and bring healing and hope to many children.
