Key faith leaders from across Botswana are hearing God's call to prevent vulnerability and care for orphans and their families! Botswana has four national trainers who are hearing God's call to love children.

Ruby Johnston from Lamb International has shared wonderful news about the development of a movement toward a Botswana without orphans! Ruby and her husband, Lynn, travel around the world to equip national leaders to train local pastors and Christ-followers in trauma-informed care for children.  They also serve with national leaders to help children stay in school and also to help build positive and affirming parenting norms for children and families! 

Training and workshops facilitated by Lamb International, in collaboration with Aglow International and Botswana Without Orphans, have resourced trainers to raise awareness with church leaders, parents, caretakers, professionals and non-governmental organizations in relation to trauma in orphans and vulnerable children. Workshops have continued to be conducted in the University of Botswana as well as in Sebina, Mogobane, Sebina and Maun , since 2014.

In April 2018, Botswana Without Orphans organized a day workshop at Victory Fellowship Church in Mogobane, led by Pastor Tony Modise on Understanding Trauma in Orphans and Vulnerable Children.  Botswana Without Orphans (BOWO) and Together Africa Without Orphans (TAWO) are Christian organizations that encourage churches, and other organizations to take care of the orphans and vulnerable children. 50 people of different denominations and professions gathered for the workshop. The participants engaged in group discussions and were involved even in making plans and committing to assist their organization, or the community at large in various strategies of taking care of the disadvantaged. 

In January & February 2019, Botswana Without Orphans collaborated with Lamb International and held a three-day training on Trauma-informed care. The following topics were covered:

• The Impact of Trauma on the Life of a Child
• Building Trauma-Competent Caregivers: Understanding and Navigating the Emotional and Behavioral Needs of Traumatized Children
• Using the Skills of a Trauma-Competent Caregiver

In Gaborone, Botswana, the WWO movement is being registered as Botswana Without Orphans.  In addition, in the north part of Botswana - Maun is working to launch a more active WWO collaboration which will be known as Ngamiland Without Orphans.

Families are being identified who need help keeping their children at home.  In the case of one little one, the grandmother has committed to raising three siblings after their mother passed away following the birth of the youngest one. WWO partners are committed to helping that happen!
