Suzanne Falconer

Senior Consultant, GlobalFingerprints

N. Suzanne Falconer, PhD is a senior consultant in technical support and trauma-informed care for GlobalFingerprints, a kinship care program operating at ten global sites from Haiti to Indonesia. Her great desire is to bring excellent ongoing care and loving support to children and families facing chronic adversity. Using the Child Status Index, she developed professional development seminars for local partners to identify system gaps and strengths to ensure quality case and program management. Due to urgent calls from the sites that GlobalFingerprints serves, Suzanne is developing programming in trauma-informed and culturally relevant care for both adults and children.

Prior to her work with GlobalFingerprints, she lived for more than a decade in three Sub-Saharan countries, enjoying the African rhythms of life whether in a remote village or busy world class city. During those times on the colorful continent, she worked with women and children in education, literacy, public health, and community development.

Suzanne’s professional interests include developing strong child protection systems and promoting resilience, as well as creating community-based prevention and trauma-response interventions to war and civil conflict. Currently she is researching the prevention and reduction of community violence against children in an HIV/AIDS-affected youth population in South Africa through the use of the INSPIRE approach of simultaneous interventions in multiple social sectors.

Suzanne has the joy of being wed 37 years to Philip, Mama to four adult children, and Nana to five energetic grandchildren.
