Tetiana Machabeli is from Uzhhorod, western Ukraine, on the border with Slovakia. She has master’s degrees in finance and in educational pedagogical sciences and has worked as a senior lecturer at Uzhhorod National University. She also received and International Montessori Teaching Diploma at the North American Montessori Center (Vancouver, Canada) and is a certified Foundations of Montessori Inclusion in Elementary trainer.
Tetiana is executive director of Nehemiah Ukraine NGO, which is part of the Nehemiah Team International network. After the outbreak of war, Nehemiah Ukraine become a regional center for refugee housing and support. In February 2023, the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) asked Tetiana to develop and implement the first holistic rehabilitation program for women who had survived sexual abuse during the war. Experts from Ukraine, the USA and Canada worked together to develop the “Pathway to Healing—First Steps” program. The program was launched in September 2023.
Tetiana serves as a board member of Transcarpathia Without Orphans. She believes that every child can reach its full potential when provided with a loving family, provided with a holistic education and surrounded by a strong, supportive community.
Tetiana is married to Vasiko Machabeli. They have one biological child and two foster children.
