Sydney has been working to strengthen families amidst crises for the past 10 years. Her experiences include supporting people in leprosy communities in Asia, survivors of abuse in Asia and the United States, families experiencing homelessness in the U.S., people living with HIV in Tanzania, and, most recently, Ukrainian families during the ongoing war. Sydney worked in program implementation for six years prior to completing a master's degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of California Berkeley. Now, her primary research focus is to identify the most effective interventions and policies to sustainably strengthen caregivers and children who are in crisis contexts, so that all children may live healthy, flourishing lives.
