Raghu Balachandran is an experienced development professional with 17 years of experience in leadership roles. In addition to his position with the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka, he is also executive director for the Relief and Development Commission of the Asian Evangelical Alliance. Raghu serves on the advisory board of UNICEF’s Regional Office of South Asia for Faith and Positive Change for Children, Families, and Communities, as well as in the Global Leadership Team and the Global Operational Team of the Refugee Highway Partnership.
Raghu is a member of the governing board of Wesley College Colombo, a trustee of the Methodist Trust Association, and a former vice president of the Methodist Church Sri Lanka, in which he is also a local preacher. He has served on the Executive Committee of the National Christian Council of Sri Lanka and on the council’s Constitution Revision Committee. He is currently on the board of the Theological College of Lanka, in Pilimathalawa, Sri Lanka, and as a director at the One Text Initiative. Furthermore, he has served as the head of the media unit for the opposition leader in the Sri Lankan parliament, and as a non-executive director for Solar Universe Pvt Ltd.
Raghu holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Derby, UK, a postgraduate diploma in strategic management and leadership from Edexel Pearson, a qualification in human resource management from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, and a diploma in general counseling and psychology from ICBT. He has played a key role in the restructuring of various organizations, including the Methodist Church Sri Lanka, the National Christian Council, and Humedica Lanka International.
