Kanthamanee works on alternative care policy advocacy in Thailand. She and her team worked on the National Action Plan of Alternative Care in 2022; it is currently being integrated into the revised National Child Protection Strategy. She is also an academic advisor for Alternative Care Thailand (ACT), a network of NGOs working towards care reform. Kanthamanee has a Ph.D. in religion and development and is a lecturer in the Religion and Development Program at Mahidol University. Her research interests include alternative care, care reform and faith-based organizations. She is currently conducting research on institutional care in the Islamic context of southern Thailand.
