In July 2022 a group of Egyptians from different NGOs and faith groups met to start a WWO movement in Egypt. Their biggest desire was to see children who lived in orphanages reunified with their own families. In March 2023, at the European Forum, Shady, one of the leaders of the group shared the following: 

"In July 2022, our team started to work on our goal of reunifying children with their families. By March 23, we had already been able to help 25 children to leave the orphanage and return to their families, and that five more children are in the process of reunification. The goal is to have 45 children reunified by the end of 2023."

Shady also shared how they had started the process. He explained that once the biological parents heard that there was a group ready to help them to get their children back, parents came to the team asking for help to be reunified. The team is also able to support biological parents willing to take their children back into their families with a small amount of money. Besides of getting some money, the parents also receive sessions in better parenting. The children get psychological help to work through the trauma they had experienced during their time in the orphanage. Shady and the team are working alongside the 25 children and their parents, and at the same time helping to get five more children back into their families.

Sometimes the team is experiencing real miracles while working to reunite children with their families. In one case the government social services would not have allowed the children to go back to their biological family unless the conditions of the house they were living in, were improved. The team prayed and about two hours later someone offered to install doors and windows to the house the family lived in. That was the needed improvement and the children moved in to be reunited with their family.

It is exciting to see, how the vision that children grow best in families is spreading throughout many countries all over the world, and to see the change that a team of dedicated people is able to bring to the lives of vulnerable children.
