Bishop Dr. Joshua H. K. Banda is presiding bishop of more than 2,000 churches of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God in Zambia, overseer and senior pastor at Northmead Assembly of God, and president of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Africa. He serves on the Africa Forum on Religion and Government global board, and he is a member of the Africa Cabinet of the Empowered21 movement.
Dr Banda was co-chair from 2018 to 2023 of the Southern Africa Regional Platform within the African Union Inter-Faith Dialogue Forum. He is also president of the Africa Christian Transformation Forum.
Together with his wife, Pastor Gladys, Bishop Banda has founded impactful humanitarian interventions, rescuing hundreds delinquent boys from the streets and rehabilitating thousands of other orphaned and vulnerable children over the years.
In 42 years of multifaced Christian ministry, Bishop Banda’s areas of core study include theology, community and transformational leadership, mission and development practice, and HIV/AIDS social policy. He received his PhD from Middlesex University, UK and is a published author. He is also engaged in the education sector as a Senator at Lusaka Apex Medical University, Chancellor of the City University of Science and Technology at Trans-Africa Christian University, and adjunct lecturer at the Oxford Centre for Religion and Public Life, on the subject of research that measures impact. Bishop Banda and Gladys have been married for 36 years, and they are blessed with four children and two granddaughters.
