Sunday School Note Suggestions

Sunday School Lesson – Orphan Sunday

Theme: God Cares for Every Child

Memory Verse: “He sets the lonely in families.” – Psalm 68:6

Big Idea:

God loves every child, and He wants us to love and care for children who don’t have families.

Bible Verses:

  1. Psalm 68:6 – God gives lonely people a home and a family.
  2. Malachi 4:6 – God wants fathers and children to love each other again.
  3. James 1:27 – God says true faith is helping orphans and widows.

Discussion Time:

Ask the kids:

  • What do you think it means to be “lonely”?
  • How do you feel when someone includes you?
  • Why do you think God wants us to care for children without families?

Say:
There are children around the world—and even in our own town—who don’t have a mom or dad to care for them. God sees them. He loves them. And He asks us to help.

What Can We Do?

  • Pray for children who are alone
  • Be kind and include others who are left out
  • Share your toys, snacks, or time with someone in need
  • Encourage your family to help foster or support a child
  • Draw a picture or write a card for a child in care

Activity:

Draw: A house full of love and people.
Write/Color: “God puts the lonely in families” on top of the drawing.
Optional Craft: Make a paper heart and write names of people you can pray for.

Prayer Time:

“Dear God, thank You for being a loving Father. Please be with every child who is alone today. Help us to be kind, caring, and ready to help others just like You do. Use us to show Your love. Amen.”

Take-Home Challenge:

This week, do one kind thing for someone who feels left out. Tell your parents one way your family could help a child in need.
