Jed Johnson

Jed Johnson and his wife Kim have nine children; four biological, two adopted, and three men with special needs whom they have taken legal guardianship and welcomed into the family. They currently live in Ukraine as the co-founders of Wide Awake International.  They have been working in Ukraine for the last six years to create a family care model for the deinstitutionalization of people with special needs. The first home is at capacity and they are currently building two more homes.  

Before moving to Ukraine Jed and Kim took care of ten medically fragile children in the foster care system in Oregon, U.S.A..  Kim worked as a pediatric nurse and Jed was the director for an early childhood program, working with children and families in crisis.
