Gilbert Kamanga

National Director, World Vision Tanzania

Gilbert Mwembe Kamanga is originally from Malawi and he also calls Australia home. He is the national director for World Vision Tanzania. Gilbert has brought to World Vision Tanzania over 25 years’ experience of working at senior levels of international development planning and management in Australia, South Africa, Malawi, Zambia and Uganda. Gilbert has also worked for Commonwealth Secretariat in the Commonwealth Youth Program.

His recent post was in Uganda where he served as national director for World Vision for five and half years. With his leadership, World Vision Uganda amplified its child protection work throughout the country including refugee settlements.  In order to prevent sexual violence against girls, World Vision Uganda implemented the "INSPIRE" model of Coaching Boys into Men which has resulted in tremendous results amongst all participants. 

Gilbert is a Christian leader who is passionate about mobilizing, engaging, and building capacity of faith groups and faith leaders so that they take action in ending violence against children. Gilbert is result-orientated. He has demonstrated commitment to building local talent for delivering sustainable results and accountability. He is a champion of corporate governance and values collaboration and partnerships. Working for an organization which focuses on the most vulnerable children, Gilbert works towards ensuring that the governments’ national agendas benefit many including the poor. Gilbert is world-renown public speaker and has spoken at many national and international forums 

Gilbert is married to Farles and they have two young adults, Thembani (son) and Chimangu (daughter).
